Job Summary

Under the direction of the Director of Secondary Education/Principal to perform public relations and marketing-type activities on high school campuses and community sites to promote center programs. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Work closely with counselors at school site to promote student enrollment in all programs offered. • Distribute and display SoCal ROC promotional materials at school sites. • Maintain contact with teachers, counselors, and administrative staff of participating partner of high schools. • Develop and implement comprehensive recruitment plan for assigned school sites. • Assist with registration at school sites and at the Center. • Assist with special events staged for recruitment or public relation purposes. • Distribute, collect, and assist with reports and other items delivered between SoCal ROC and school sites. • Perform other duties/work as assigned. EXPERIENCE / TRAINING / QUALIFICATIONS: • Knowledge and usage of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment; PC operation and software. • Knowledge of basic high school graduation requirements. • Knowledge of UC/CSU Admission requirements for high school applicants. • Ability to guide students in resume` writing and learning soft-skills necessary in college/career. • Experience working with teenagers and adults is highly desired. • Correct English usage; grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary; oral and written communications skills; interpersonal skills, i.e. tactful, patient, and courteous. • Ability to interface with diverse population. • Understand and follow oral and written directions. • Self-motivated, with ability to promote and market programs. • Career Technical Education/Regional Occupational Centers/program operational principles and techniques, desirable. • High school graduate with a minimum of six months of paid or volunteer experience in public relations-type activities and public speaking. • Bilingual, desirable.
