Job Description Summary
This position will primarily be assigned to the San Luis Obispo campus with occasional support needed at the North County Campus in Paso Robles.
The selected applicant will be assigned the following schedule:
• Monday through Thursday: 8:30am - 5:00pm
• Friday: 8:00am - 4:30pm
DEFINITION
Under general direction of the Director of Disabled Student Programs and Services, serves as coordinator of DSPS accommodated, academic test services. Primarily, this position oversees the day-to-day operations of the DSPS testing center, which proctors, schedules, and secures individually accommodated exams for students with qualifying disabilities. The testing coordinator works in a fast paced, often complex environment where attention to detail and procedures are essential for security while possessing the person centered skills necessary to serve students with disabilities.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
The DSPS Testing Center Coordinator is distinguished from other classes in that the incumbent interacts on a daily basis with students with various types and severities of disabilities, acts as liaison between students with disabilities and their instructors and staff, oversees the hourly personnel, procedures, equipment and facilities required in the delivery of DSPS accommodated testing, and provides information regarding DSPS. Strong communication skills in working with students, faculty, staff, administration and the public is necessary. Incumbent also serves as liaison with outside agencies and college departments, is expected to work independently on projects, make decisions in a variety of situations, maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and to exercise discretion. Incumbents in this position supports student learning outcomes and institutional effectiveness by coordinating DSPS support services and accommodations to students who have a qualifying disability, thereby promoting their success and achievement of their educational goals.

Essential Functions & Qualifications
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Ensure that individual accommodations are followed for students with disabilities by overseeing the administration of exams which may include, scribing, reading, enlarging, or any other special accommodations that may be required;• Coordinate and schedule testing dates and times for students with disabilities by maintaining a master calendar of tests scheduled with instructors, individual students, test proctors, and test locations;• Supervise and schedule temporary student employees to maintain adequate coverage;• Serve as the primary point of contact to interact and communicate with faculty, staff and students to ensure all aspects of the exam coordination processes are followed;• Interview, hire, recruit, train and evaluate temporary/student employees to work in the testing setting;• Implement secure procedures to have exams delivered and logged at DSPS then return completed exams to faculty;• Ensure alternate formats of exams are created/requested and available to students;• Provide and support assistive hardware and software required by test takers including JAWS, NVDA, Kurzweil 3000, Dragon Dictation, CCTV;• Secure testing environment at all times by observing test takers personally and by security camera, reporting any irregularities immediately to Director;• Maintain database for scheduling, reporting, and other vital testing information;• Coordinate the delivery of testing accommodations in conjunction with the DSPS alternative media facilitator and specialists, ASL interpreters, facilities and other campus units;• Maintain testing and support services supplies, recommend for purchase new supplies and equipment; and• Perform other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Required
• Bachelor's degree.
Experience:
Required
• Two years in a DSPS office or similar post-secondary student support setting.
Preferred
• Four years working in DSPS office;• Use of adaptive technology;• Managing complex systems with significant customer service demands.
Knowledge of:
• Title 5 DSPS policies and procedures;• Best practices in providing disability accommodations in the post-secondary setting especially in regards to test taking;• Current technologies, personal computer, and associated office software such as word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and/or database software;• Correct usage of English, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary; and• District policies and procedures.
Ability to:
• Operate a variety of office equipment such as a word processor and applicable software, calculator, scanner, copier and others;• Prepare complete and concise statistics, records, reports and files;• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the performance of duties; and• Demonstrate a sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of staff and students and of staff and students with physical and learning disabilities.
Physical ability to:
• Read and comprehend printed matter and text and data on computer monitors;• Communicate intelligibly and effectively via speech, telephone, written correspondence, and/or email;• Sit or stand for extended periods of time;• Lift and/or carry 25 pounds; and• Exert manual dexterity sufficient for keyboard and other office equipment operation.
License and Certificates (current within the last year or must be continuously current):

• Valid driver's license and eligible to obtain California driver's license upon hire.

SALARY SCHEDULEBelow is the full salary schedule range for this position, steps A through E. Per Cuesta College's policies, new employees are placed at Steps A through C, which is the anticipated hiring range also listed below.
