Job Summary

Job Summary

The job of Department Secretary is done for the purposes of providing a wide variety of confidential administrative and secretarial support to department administrator; communicating information on behalf of administrator to department staff, other districts, and public agencies; ensuring compliance of department/program activities with financial, legal and administrative requirements; acting as liaison between the administrator and other parties; and providing information, addressing issues and/or providing general support to the department and district.

Requirements / Qualifications

Type at a speed of not less than 40 wpm; understand and carry out oral and written directions; perform clerical work of average difficulty; compile and maintain accurate and complete records and reports; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers, students, parents, members of the community and others. This position will assist the Education Services department, which provides school site support with everything related to curriculum and instruction as well as special education. Experience or knowledge of these programs is desired. Knowledge of Escape, Aeries, and other school specific databases is highly desirable. A current (within two years) 40 wpm keyboarding testing certificate is required for this position. We do not accept online typing certificates. If you do not have a current typing certificate, please attach a document stating you understand that a typing certificate is required for this position and you will provide one if you have been selected for hire, prior to your start date. Current RJUHSD employees interested in a lateral transfer or promotion must submit an application through EDJOIN for consideration. Current RJUHSD employees are encouraged, but not required to submit a letter of recommendation, resume, and letter of introduction. Current RJUHSD employees serving as a Department Secretary do not need to submit a typing test.
