The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) serves some of Orange County’s most vulnerable student populations and provides support and mandated fiscal oversight to 28 school districts serving more than 600 schools and approximately 475,000 students. In addition to providing direct instruction to students through its own alternative and special education programs, OCDE administers an array of programs and services that are critical to the operations of local school districts and community colleges, facilitating professional development, legal guidance, payroll, career and technical education support, high-speed internet access, Local Control and Accountability Plan assistance and approval, resources for families, and student enrichment. The Career Education Unit in Orange County is dedicated to empowering educators with programs that include teacher and administrator credentialing, induction, and leadership for administrators, teachers, and counselors. We also champion college and career readiness through integrated academics, project-based learning, business internships, and career guidance, ensuring that students are equipped for future success. We are seeking an enthusiastic educator to fill the role of Coordinator, Educational Services for Career & College Readiness. This position will support schools and districts in prioritizing career and college readiness within their Local Control Accountability Plans (LCAP), the California Accountability Model/School Dashboard, and Integrated Programs of Study. Key duties include coordinating partnerships with regional colleges and community organizations, delivering training seminars, providing technical support for instructional programs, and overseeing curriculum development and event marketing. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Partner with regional community colleges, post-secondary institutions, and intermediary organizations to strengthen career education initiatives. • Coordinate and foster collaboration between agencies involved in educational programs. • Prepare and deliver presentations on program goals, objectives, and achievements. • Design and lead training seminars and workshops for educators. • Provide consultation and technical support to districts on instructional programs. • Develop marketing materials for program events, including news releases, schedules, and social media outreach. • Oversee the development of program curriculum and instruction. • Act as a liaison with school districts, parents, business/industry partners, consultants, and government agencies.
Requirements / Qualifications
Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in education, education administration, behavior management or a related field. • Five (5) years of increasingly responsible educational experience including two years of administrative service in a public school setting. Licenses, Certificates, and Special Requirements: • Valid California Credential authorizing instruction or service in a public school program. • Valid California Administrative Services Credential may be required for some assignments.
