JOB DESCRIPTION Under general supervision of the Administrator or Designee and Lead Teacher/Site Supervisor; supervise groups of preschool and school age children in an average adult/child ratio of 1 to 14; and participates in other related duties as assigned. POSITION IN THE ORGANIZATION Reports to: School Readiness/Child Development Coordinator SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES •Assist Child Care Leader and Co-Leader in daily activities with groups of children •Assist in organizing and preparing the learning environment, and preparing needed materials and supplies •Assist in planning, implementing and supervising activities and programs for students in accordance with District policies and procedures (i.e. homework policy) •Assist the children in making a satisfactory transition from home to daycare •Provide reinforcement for positive attitudes and social skills •Monitor established standards of student behavior •Establish and maintain good working relationships with others MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE Any combination equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade and some applicable experience working with children Must pass proficiency test as legislated by the State of California Must possess and maintain a California Drivers License and submit to a Department of Motor Vehicle check as required Work experience in a licensed child care center or comparable child care program or other experience working with children. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES •Ability to work independently, with resourcefulness and initiative •Ability to learn procedures, functions and limitations of assigned duties •Must be physically fit to lead and participate in a variety of vigorous activities •Ability to see and hear conditions relating to the safety of self and others •Ability to speak in an indoor and outdoor setting well enough to project voice throughout classroom, playground and multipurpose room •Lift/carry/push or pull equipment supplies and other materials that are at least 50 pounds. •Stand, walk, sit, bend, push, pull and reach on a frequent basis.
