About the Employer

The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) serves some of Orange County’s most vulnerable student populations and provides support and mandated fiscal oversight to 28 school districts serving more than 600 schools and approximately 475,000 students. In addition to providing direct instruction to students through its own alternative and special education programs, OCDE administers an array of programs and services that are critical to the operations of local school districts and community colleges, facilitating professional development, legal guidance, payroll, career and technical education support, high-speed internet access, Local Control and Accountability Plan assistance and approval, resources for families, and student enrichment. The Career Education Unit in Orange County is dedicated to empowering educators with programs that include teacher and administrator credentialing, induction, and leadership for teachers and counselors. We also champion college and career readiness through integrated academics, project-based learning, business internships, and career guidance, ensuring that students are equipped for future success. We are seeking a dynamic Project Manager for Career Education in our Educational Services Division. This critical role is centered on advancing college and career readiness through the integration and enhancement of work-based learning opportunities. The Project Manager will collaborate with team members to manage and support various education programs and services, ensuring a seamless blend of academic learning with practical, real-world experiences. This position is key to fostering educational initiatives that prepare students for the workforce and higher education. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Project Leadership: Lead and assist in the implementation of project objectives, metrics, and strategic plans, ensuring alignment with OCDE's overall goals. • Collaboration and Support: Work closely with team members, district staff, and community groups, providing essential technical assistance related to each project. • Promoting College and Career Readiness: Focus efforts on initiatives that enhance students' preparedness for post-secondary education and career opportunities. • Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development and execution of strategic plans, that project goals are met effectively and efficiently. • Technical Assistance and Support: Offer crucial technical guidance to group members, district staff, and community organizations engaged in project-related activities. • Lead and advance OCDE's mission in career education by applying leadership, organizational, and collaborative skills to effectively manage and drive various educational projects forward.

Requirements / Qualifications

Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in education, and organizational management. • Three (3) years of experience in program management, public relations, or community outreach programs related to education.
