Job Summary

Job Summary

Under the immediate direction of the Superintendent and/or designee, aid students by translating and interpreting a variety of instructional materials and by presenting various instructional curricula designed to increase academic achievement for the student. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements / Qualifications

Required Qualifications • High School Diploma or GED • Paraprofessional Exam Certification. • Demonstrated knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing and mathematics or reading readiness, writing readiness and mathematics readiness, as appropriate • Passage of Education Signing Skills Evaluation for Interpreter (ESSE-I) at level 4 or above or other equivalent certification approved by California State Board of Education • Experience interpreting and translating for hearing impaired persons, preferably students, utilizing ASL (American Sign Language). • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, parents and community • Skill and accuracy in oral and written expression; ability to follow oral and written directions
