About the Employer

The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) serves some of Orange County’s most vulnerable student populations and provides support and mandated fiscal oversight to 28 school districts serving more than 600 schools and approximately 475,000 students. In addition to providing direct instruction to students through its own alternative and special education programs, OCDE administers an array of programs and services that are critical to the operations of local school districts and community colleges, facilitating professional development, legal guidance, payroll, career and technical education support, high-speed internet access, Local Control and Accountability Plan assistance and approval, resources for families, and student enrichment. Join the Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) as an Associate Superintendent of Educational Services and become a driving force behind innovative educational transformation! In this senior leadership role, you'll work directly with the County Superintendent to shape programs and policies that empower schools, students, and communities. In this Cabinet-level role, you’ll champion OCDE’s mission to foster engaging, equitable learning environments and inspire academic success. This is an exceptional opportunity to work collaboratively with districts, advocate for impactful educational policies, and lead a dedicated team in creating a thriving learning community across Orange County. As Associate Superintendent of Educational Services, you will: • Provide strategic leadership and management for assigned Educational Services activities, including policy direction and promotion of educational initiatives. • Lead goal setting, program development, and evaluation processes to ensure effective educational service delivery. • Oversee budgeting, resource allocation, and staffing within the division, ensuring efficient use of resources. • Serve as a senior Cabinet member, collaborating closely with the Superintendent, fellow Cabinet members, and external partners. • Act as a liaison with various school districts, state agencies, and legislative bodies to advocate for and represent OCDE’s educational priorities.

Requirements / Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience: Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: • Master’s degree in Education, Public Administration, or a related field from an accredited institution. • A minimum of seven years of experience in managing multifaceted school operations, including two years in district or county-level administration and two years in a supervisory role. • Experience as a school site administrator and Cabinet-level experience is highly desirable.
