Requirements / Qualifications

Knowledge of: • Operation of office machines including computer equipment and specified software. • Modern office practices, procedures, and equipment. • Alpha and numeric filing systems. • Record-keeping techniques. • Rules, regulations, and eligibility requirements of the National School Lunch Program. • Nutritional requirements of school-aged children. • Menu planning techniques including food values, combinations, and substitutions. • Basic budgeting practices regarding monitoring and control. • Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary. Ability to: • Maintain records and files. • Assemble, organize, and prepare data for records and reports. • Maintain financial and statistical records. • Operate office machines including a computer and applicable software. • Perform specialized secretarial duties in support of program activities • Learn, interpret, explain, and apply knowledge of the department’s organization, operations, programs, functions, and special terminology when performing assignments. • Learn and operate computer-aided systems for food service application processing, food pricing, and transactions. • Maintain confidentiality of private and sensitive information. • Meet deadlines and schedules. • Communicate with peers and other staff or public in a manner reflecting positively on the department.
