Coaching Responsibilities The Pajaro Valley Unified School District hires coaches annually to prepare athletes for competitive participation. The Varsity Softball Coach at Watsonville High School will be responsible for: 1. Teaching sports techniques, rules, strategies, and game tactics. 2. Conditioning athletes to develop endurance, strength, and agility. 3. Supervising practices, contests, locker rooms, and transportation to ensure safety and discipline. 4. Instilling values such as sportsmanship, teamwork, work ethic, and accountability. 5. Monitoring academic performance, school attendance, and personal conduct of athletes. 6. Providing first aid and attending to player injuries using approved methods. 7. Managing uniforms, equipment, and facilities responsibly. 8. Ensuring coverage for practices or events in case of coaching absences.

a. teaching sports techniques, playing rules, strategies and playing tactics;
b. conditioning athletes appropriately for activities requiring endurance, strength and agility;
c. supervising and conducting practices and contests safely; supervising locker rooms and buses;
d. teaching sportsmanship, cooperation, work ethic and responsibility to one's team;
e. monitoring athletes' school attendance, grades and personal conduct;
f. responding to player injuries with approved first aid techniques;
g. managing uniforms, equipment and school facilities in a responsible manner;
h. provide coverage for absence of coaches.
Requirements / Qualifications
Watsonville High School is accepting applications for the position of Varsity Softball Coach for the Spring 2025 season. Watsonville High School, with a student population of around 2,000, values the integral relationship between athletics and academics. We seek a committed individual to provide leadership, stability, and growth to the softball program, fostering an environment that athletes can call home.
Employment with the Pajaro Valley Unified School District is contingent upon meeting all pre-employment requirements. As part of the selection process, new employees must provide: 1. A completed application, letter of interest, and resume. 2. Proof of a TB test (cost covered by the employee). 3. Valid CPR and First Aid certifications. 4. Fingerprinting and a criminal record check (paid by the District). 5. A Social Security card and valid photo identification.
