Requirements / Qualifications

This position is Monday-Friday, 8 hours a day, 8:00- 4:30 with 30 minute unpaid lunch Minimum Requirements: Knowledge of: -Various types of child care public and private, and community services agencies. - Child growth and development, early childhood education including appropriate care giving practices, especially for infants and toddlers, adult education principles, adult training strategies, community resources, family support strategies for serving low income, culturally diverse families. - Adult training strategies - Head Start Performance Standards and Early Head Start pregnant woman guidance - Record keeping; time management, and organizational skills - Pediatric CPR/First aid Ability to: - Work effectively with children and parents; - Carry out oral and written directions; - Respect the confidentiality of incidents and information; - Communicate effectively with parents, children, and agency/business representatives; gather information about problems and identify possible solutions - Operate necessary program equipment; - Maintain positive attitude; - Sustain cooperative relationships with those contacted in course of work. Bilingual and/or biliterate ability is desirable. Education: - Any combination equivalent to: Bachelor’s degree in child/human development, sociology, social services, health sciences or related field. Experience: - One year experience in child/human development, social services or a related field is required; 3 years’ experience is desirable - Some experience training adults is preferred. Special Requirements: - Fingerprint clearance required. - TB clearance, Varicella, DTAP (Pertussis), MMR (Measles) immunizations are required. - Physical (Health Screening) required - Possession of a valid California Driver’s License and own transportation and proof of auto insurance.
