Job Summary
The job of the TK Paraprofessional is for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional program within assigned classroom by assisting the teacher with the implementation of lesson plans; reinforcing learning concepts; working with individual students and/or small groups; organizing and directing age-appropriate activities; assisting in maintaining a clean and safe learning environment for students; and, providing assistance with students' personal care needs. This Job reports to Site Administrator or designee.
Requirements / Qualifications
EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: Graduation from secondary school or equivalent GED and some experience working with pre-school age children in an organized educational, health, childcare, or other structured setting. Incumbents must meet requirements specified under Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). Special Qualifications include: • Completed at least two (2) years of study at an institution of higher education OR • Obtained an associate’s or higher degree (college level) OR • Met (pass) a rigorous standard of quality and can demonstrate, through a formal State or local academic assessment, knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing, and mathematics. EXAMINATION PROCEDURES: This is a promotional and open competitive recruitment. The examination may consist of a training and experience (supplemental responses) evaluation, written test or performance test and a structured oral interview.
