OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.Perform a variety of maintenance work in the alteration, repairand new construction of equipment and structures, performing skilled work in their particular area(s) of expertise.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Performs work based on written plans, layouts, orblueprints.

2. Follows general safety and hazardous materials procedures.

3. Operates a wide variety of maintenance equipment and/ormachinery and power or manual tools in carrying out theirassigned duties appropriate to job specialty area.

4. Diagnoses and assesses problems.

5. Operates district vehicles.

6. Performs related duties as assigned.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES OF JOB SPECIALTY AREASCarpenter

1. Alters, repairs, and maintains a variety of articles andwood structures.

2. Assists with mill and cabinet work.

3. Installs and repairs floors and roofs, doors, and windows.

4. Does concrete work.

5. Maintains and operates a variety of woodworking machineryand equipment.

Electrician/HVAC

1. Maintains and repairs a variety of electrical facilities, fixtures, and equipment.

2. Repair and maintains heating, ventilation, air conditioning,and refrigeration systems. Inspects, cleans and adjustsequipment.

Painter

1. Uses appropriate equipment and materials in applying paint,varnish, or other protective/decorative finishes to varioussurfaces.

2. Prepares surfaces for paint or other finishes.

3. Does glazing.

Plumber

1. Assists with the installation of water, sewer, and gaslines, drainage systems and pumps.

2. Repairs, replaces, installs and tests plumbing systems, sets fixtures.

Irrigation/landscape/maintenance and repair

1. Makes recommendations for possible improvements inlandscaping areas and repairs/replaces existing landscaping.

2. Installs and maintains sprinkler systems, makes minorrepairs and reports major problems.

3. Sprays for weed control, insect and plant diseases.

4. Does pruning when needed.

QUALIFICATIONSKnowledge of:

The use of job related standard methods, materials, andequipment; methods and practices followed in the maintenance oftools, machinery and equipment appropriate to the specialty.

Ability to:

Communicate effectively and maintain cooperative relationshipswith those contacted in the course of work; follow general safetyand hazardous materials procedures; understand, implement, and give oral or written directions in English.

Experience:Three year's experience in construction, grounds, ormaintenance work.

Education:High School Diploma or equivalent.
