Job Summary

Job Summary

The San Diego County Office of Education is recruiting for a Principal for the Monarch School of the Innovation division. The Principal at Monarch School is responsible for planning, organizing and providing instructional and administrative leadership and guidance to staff and students; serves as liaison with the County Office, community agencies, parents and the public; coordinating activities and addressing issues. The principal exemplifies Monarch’s Core Values of Community, Relationships, Strength, Learning and Healing. ABOUT MONARCH SCHOOL Monarch is a public-private partnership between the San Diego County Office of Education and the nonprofit Monarch School Project, a 501(c)(3) corporation. Nearly 300 students attend Monarch School each day. In addition, we serve approximately 167 families and 91 alumni throughout the school year. Monarch School is the only comprehensive K-12 school in the U.S. developed specifically to serve unhoused students and their families. Our school is a unique model both locally and nationwide that combines a public-school setting with robust social care.

Requirements / Qualifications

This position requires the following:


Education and Experience:

Education: Master's degree in education, education administration, or job-related area from an accredited college or university, including course work in instructional leadership and/or organizational change, and;
Experience: Three (3) years of increasingly responsible educational administrative services experience in a school setting, with responsibility for coaching and evaluating teaching staff is required

Equivalency: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a master’s degree in education, education administration, or job-related area from an accredited college or university, including course work in instructional leadership and/or organizational change, and three (3) years of increasingly responsible educational administrative services experience in a school setting, with responsibility for coaching and evaluating teaching staff.


Certificates, Licenses, Credentials:

  • Valid California Administrative Services (K-12) Credential
  • Valid California Teaching Credential
  • Valid California Driver's License
