Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the Principal of Alternative Education and Special Education programs, provide special education services included but not limited to students within the MCOE alternative education programs and the juvenile hall facility. Within this capacity, initiate and coordinate activities, assist County Office, district and site staff in the assessment of student performance and learning styles. Consult with classroom and administrative staff in the areas of instruction, curriculum and behavior management. Assist in identifying, developing and implementing appropriate use of resources for instructional applications, and provide a variety of instructional services within County Office classrooms and the districts. Contact with others includes: peers and supervisors within the department; routine contact with district administrators; teachers at various functions; parents/guardians; local and county agencies (i.e., Mental Health, Probation, etc.); public and private employers and employment agencies. **Please note that this is a temporary leave replacement. The dates of employment are to be determined.
Requirements / Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • Possess valid California Education Specialist Mild/Moderate Instruction Credential with an English Learner authorization, which authorizes Resource services; OR • Possess a valid Special Education Learning Handicapped teaching credential and a Resource Specialist Certificate, and an English Learner authorization; • A Master of Arts Degree from an accredited college or university with an emphasis in special education or closely related field, preferred; • Three (3) years of teaching experience preferred; • Possess or obtain upon employment, a valid California Driver’s License; • Provide proof of automobile insurability; • Meet the physical requirements necessary to perform assigned duties safely and effectively, including lifting fifty (50) pounds on an occasional basis and in excess of fifty (50) pounds with assistance.
