Job Summary

RSP: The Resource Specialist Program (RSP) is a program is designed to give support to children with learning disabilities and give them strategies to help them be successful in their education. The RSP program offers small group instruction to meet the needs of each child’s individual education plan (IEP). Children are given instruction in the least restrictive environment.

THE POSITION

 

Provides instruction and services for pupils whose needs have been identified in an individualized education program.

 

RESPONSIBLE TO:            Site Principal 

 

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

 

The duties listed are typical, but not exclusive:

  • Responsible for all regular teaching duties in Resource Room program (24 funded and approximately 32 additional students). 
  • Testing and evaluation of referrals. 
  • Coordination of referrals through proper channels (speech, bilingual, county resources, resource room, etc.)
  • Responsible for disbursing information and handling new referrals.
  • Responsibility for all paperwork regarding funded program and state audits. 
  • Regular attendance at all EAS, speech, SAT and resource SAT meetings.
  • Follow-through on all medical referrals of special education students.
  • Also attends psychological/parent conferences.
  • Completes other duties related to the Resource Specialist program as identified by the site principal.

 

QUALIFICATIONS GUIDE

 

  • Must hold a special Resource Specialist Certificate whose requirements include: holding a valid special education credential, and 3 years teaching experience in both regular and special education classes.
  • Master’s degree in Special Education preferred.
