Announcement of Application and Screening for the Position of:

                   DIRECTOR, CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION AND ROP PROGRAMS

Background: The district believes that success in achieving its mission for students is entirely dependent on strong teams of teachers, support staff, and school leaders.  To this end we are looking for a proven instructional leader to serve and guide our Career and Technical Education and ROP teams while also serving as a member of the larger district team.  Under the supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Education, the director is responsible for planning, developing, and directing the 7-8 and 9-12 CTE and ROP programs and provides leadership to the CTE/ROP staff to ensure that district goals are supported. Such a leader is one who:

ABILITY TO:

  • Develop and implement CTE/ROP instructional programs designed to prepare for high paying careers
  • Work directly with site administrators and CTE/ROP teachers to support the development and delivery of high quality CTE pathways
  • Communicate effectively with supervisor, staff, colleagues, students, and families
  • Work with schools, district departments and staff to plan and monitor professional development for CTE/ROP teachers
  • Serve as an effective liaison with local businesses industry sectors and institutions of higher education to forge partnerships for career preparation and internships
  • Build the capacity for leadership in others including CTE/ROP administrators, teachers, and staff
  • ·         Ensure effectiveness of CTE/ROP programs within state and federal regulatory frameworks

IS PREPARED TO:

  • Assume overall responsibility for the Career and Technical Education/Regional Occupational Program in Garden Grove, including the supervision of the CTE/ROP faculty and staff
  • ·         Facilitate the development and communication of the 7-12 CTE/ROP programs to all stakeholders
  • ·         Collaborate with the Office of 7-12 Instruction to support CTE/ROP teachers with research-based instructional strategies for all students
  • Prepare and supervise the CTE/ROP budget, including applying for federal and state funding; monitor and supervise program expenditures in order to comply with district, county, state, and federal guidelines; maintain communication with Office of Business Services regarding ongoing budget
  • Collect, compile, and prepare pertinent data and prepare and submit CTE/ROP reports as required by the state, as well as analyze data to make informed decisions regarding the CTE/ROP program
  • Assume responsibility for the recruitment, selection, assignment, and evaluation of CTE/ROP personnel
  • ·         Continue to build and enhance the CTE/ROP program to align with student interests and growing local industry needs
  • Supervise, preview, and oversee adoption of textbooks and curriculum in the CTE/ROP areas
  • Support and work closely with alternative education programs, including GGUSD’s Adult Education program

Additional Requirements:

  • An earned Master’s Degree and administrative credential authorizing K-12 service
  • Site, District, or County administrative leadership experience required
