JOB SUMMARY

Under general supervision, to perform specialized duties in the financial accounting and record keeping for the school site; assist students and faculty in preparing for activities and special events.   

QUALIFICATIONS

a.         Required:

            1.          Graduation from high school or its equivalent.

            2.         Three (3) years of increasingly responsible and varied experience involving financial and statistical records maintenance or acceptable experience as an Accounting Technician II in the Lucia Mar Unified School District.

            3.         Knowledge of methods and techniques of general accounting, financial and statistical record keeping,  accounting procedures and audit practices; reconciliation of bank statements; current office practices and procedures including the preparation of business correspondence and reports, and standard office equipment                         operation; correct English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation.

            4.         Ability to perform complex and technical accounting and clerical functions; prepare, review and analyze accounting files, records, summaries and reports; perform double entry bookkeeping; effectively and efficiently operate office machines and equipment; understand and carry out oral and written directions; establish and               maintain cooperative relationships.

            5.         Proficient use of computer terminal or personal computer including ten-key calculator.

 b.         Desirable:

            1.          Supplementary courses in bookkeeping, office machines including computers and business office practices.

            2.         Knowledge of applicable state laws, district policies, procedures and other regulations governing student body organizations and affairs.

            3.         May be required to possess a valid California driver license, depending on assignment.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Independently maintain a complete set of financial records for the Associated Student Body accounts.
  2. Assist in preparing budgets and reports for all student body school site accounts.
  3. Write checks as necessary.
  4. Assist in audits as requested.
  5. Train and direct student office aides.
  6. Assist in the administration of student body funds and operating procedures.
  7. Answer phone for activities office.
  8. Prepare and mail collection letters and maintain IOU files.
  9. Perform bookkeeping duties which involve accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger.
  10. Coordinate the sale of student activity tickets and merchandise.
  11. Monitor district school site budget and prepare budget transfers as needed.
  12. Perform other duties as required.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

            1.          Ability to sit for extended periods of time.

            2.         Ability to stand for extended periods of time.

            3.         Ability to see and read, with or without vision aids.

            4.         Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels.

            5.         Ability to communicate so others will clearly understand normal conversation.

            6.         Ability to bend and twist, kneel and stoop.

            7.         Ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds on a regular basis and up to 40 pounds occasionally.

            8.         Ability to reach in all directions.

            9.         Physical dexterity in limbs and digits to operate computer keyboard and ten-key calculator.
