Job Summary

Job Summary

DEFINITION Under the direction of the Director of Facilities and Maintenance and Director of Special Education, the District Driver transports special services students in accordance with established routes, time schedules and District policies and procedures. May pick-up and deliver mail to all District sites and/or provide support to Warehouse Worker, including driving a truck to deliver items to school sites. Participates in Professional Development opportunities offered by the District.

QUALIFICATIONS - Perform all essential duties of the position - Maintain regular and consistent attendance - Follow work schedules and procedures - Maintain regular and consistent attendance - Ensure the confidentiality of sensitive student information - Comply with all District rules and regulations to ensure the safety of staff and students - Comply with the District’s core values, continuous improvement efforts, and strategic initiatives - Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships including the ability to be an effective, positive, contributing member to the department - Communicate openly and work productively with a community of diverse opinions and ideas. - Read, interpret, apply, communicate, and enforce rules, regulations, policies, procedures, laws and codes - Analyze problems and issues and develop appropriate solutions - Work independently with little direction - Maintain records and prepare reports - Communicate effectively both orally and in writing in English; understand and carry out oral and written directions - Utilize interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy, including human relations skills, conflict resolution strategies and procedures, and team building methods and techniques - Be sensitive to and respect the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious and cultural backgrounds, disabilities, and sexual orientation of others. Experience: - Six months experience as a bus driver, and/or one year of truck driving experience desirable. Licenses/Certification/Special Requirements: - Possession of a valid California Driver’s License (At least a Class C). - Must be insurable and maintain insurability by the District’s insurance carrier(s). - Food Handlers Certificate, if applicable (to be completed within the first 30 days of employment). - Completion of Fork Lift training, if required (provided by District after employment).
