Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) School Safety Officer $22.52- $27.94/hourly Apply at www.lausdjobs.org ABOUT THE JOB: LA Unified School District is seeking a School Safety Officer A School Safety Officer is responsible for securing and patrolling a school or other District property in order to prevent or report violations of laws, rules, or safe practices. The Los Angeles School Police Department (LASPD) is conducting a search for dedicated and qualified individuals who have the desire to serve as a School Safety Officer for the nation’s second-largest school district. This is an excellent opportunity for an exceptional person who has an interest in working in the field of law enforcement. LASPD is currently undertaking a recruitment effort to fill vacancies with the highest caliber of candidates. For more information on LASPD please visit the website at www.laspd.com The following are some of the key duties a School Safety Officer typically performs: Guards a school or other District property and protects property and staff by making prescribed rounds of inspection. Prevents entry or reports the presence of unauthorized persons on grounds or in buildings who are in violation of laws and ordinances affecting the District. Remains alert for and reports fire hazards and combustible and waste materials, extinguishes small blazes, and identifies non-working alarms. Investigates unusual conditions, notifies proper persons or agencies, and takes immediate emergency action when leaks or malfunctions in plumbing, electrical, heating, or other equipment are detected to reduce danger and prevent possible damage. Prepares incident and other miscellaneous reports about crimes against District property and offenses against District personnel or students. May give information to the public entering or leaving District premises.
