Maintains a record of all pupil visits to the health office; screens students for injuries and complaints of illness; notifies parents or other designated individuals noted on emergency card in case of injury of illness; renders first aid; may, under special circumstances, transport students with minor injuries or illness; examine pupil immunization records to determine compliance with Health and Safety codes; completes, codes, and enters health data in computer under the supervision of school nurse; records health information and screening results on the appropriate health records as directed by the school nurse; dispenses physician authorized medication to pupils under direction of the school nurse or principal; completes monthly reports and statistical information; performs clerical duties including filing, answering phones, and recording messages, preparing accident reports, ordering supplies, and maintaining various health office cards and files; perform other duties as required.

The Baldwin Park Unified School District is recruiting for a Health Clerk. The immediate vacancy is located at the Tri-Cities Head Start Office. Under general supervision, the employee will assist the school nurse, provide immediate first aid, perform general clerical duties, and assist in health care screenings. The selection process tentatively consists of the District application review, proficiency exam, and interviews. The Human Resources Department will contact all applicants once the selection process has been finalized. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Education: Graduation from high school or GED. Experience: One (1) year of clerical experience or working with students. Experience working in a school setting is preferred but not required. SKILLS: Must successfully pass district clerical test. REQUIRED LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATES: * Possession of a valid and appropriate California Driver’s License, and evidence of car insurance. Must have a vehicle to travel to school sites as part of this assignment. * Valid CPR and First Aid Certificate DESIRED REQUIREMENTS: Spanish speaking is preferred but not required.
