Job Summary
St. Michael’s Episcopal Day School is seeking qualified applicants for the part time position of school nurse. Responsibilities include: -Treat or triage illnesses and injuries that arise during the school day (e.g. bumps and bruises, cuts and scrapes, asthma exacerbations, allergic reactions, etc.) -Manage chronic illnesses that need to be cared for at school (e.g. diabetes, seizure disorders) -Assist with COVID education, prevention, contact tracing, and testing as needed -Communicate with parents regarding illnesses, injuries, and medications -Communicate with teachers regarding student illnesses, injuries, and medications -Administer any scheduled medications during the school day -Keep the nurse’s office stocked with supplies -Track student immunization records -Assist with emergency drills The hourly position is three mornings a week 10:00am-2:00pm. Compensation is based on experience and qualifications.
Requirements / Qualifications
-Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program. -License: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing. -Experience: Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in pediatrics or school health. -Skills: Strong assessment and triage skills, ability to manage medical emergencies, knowledge of state and federal regulations related to school health services. -Communication: Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with students, parents, and school staff. -Technology: Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) and basic office software.
