Job Summary

Major Duties & Responsibilities: • Participates and assists in the development of the SELPA Local Plan, policies, and procedures. • Supervises and evaluates program personnel in accordance with established MCOE policies and procedures. • Provides professional leadership through the coordination and delivery of professional development, coaching, mentoring, and serving as an expert to assist districts with initiatives, compliance, laws, codes, policies, procedures, and student improvement. • Compiles, reviews, and analyzes a variety of technical data and information related to compliance, student performance, and/or assigned program areas. • Provides support to Cabinet level administration. • Ensures smooth daily operation of assigned programs. • Implements and monitors program budgets. • Determines needs for and provides appropriate staff development. • Provides support and technical assistance to district administrators, special education and general education staff, and agencies, including the MCOE, in matters related to compliance, mediation, due process, and performance improvement. • Coordinates the SELPA Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)program, including but not limited to facilitation of IEP meetings at the request of districts and families. • Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with outside groups which may include, but not be limited to districts, parents, community agencies, volunteer groups, county and city government departments and local businesses that include individuals of diverse ethnic, racial, linguistic, and social backgrounds. • Plans, develops, and implements new programs and services or other projects as appropriate. • Coordinates, organizes, and performs monitoring duties for Nonpublic Schools (NPSs) and Residential Treatment Centers (RTCs). • Facilities groups by communicating effectively to support planning, problem solving, and decision-making. • Resolves conflicts, takes initiative to independently i

Certification & Qualification Requirements: • Valid California Administrative Credential or Certificate of Eligibility. • Up to 5 years of successful administrative work, and experience in the field of special education preferred.

Condition of Employment: Employees are required to submit to a Department of Justice background check and provide proof of freedom from tuberculosis and vaccination of Measles.
