
School Based Therapist at Glendora Unified School District
Requirements / Qualifications
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Provide direct short-term individual/group counseling and case management to students at various District school sites. - Maintain and document individual and group counseling logs, notes, and summaries of mental health treatments provided. - Develop and provide treatment plans and interventions to serve students with mental health disorders. - Participate in school site intervention teams and conducts threat/suicidal/homicidal risk assessments to promote student safety. - Provide support to site leadership in responding to crisis events with school-wide impact. - Perform intake assessments and develop treatment plans for referred students. - Assist parents and families in accessing and utilizing community resources; make referrals for students and to appropriate community resources and social services. - Provide consultation, mental health education to parents of students with mental health needs and school staff. - Participate in professional activities, conferences and research to keep abreast of trends, practices and continued growth and development in services for all students.
- Identify school program needs and assists in developing school strategies to meet student’s needs. - Collaborate with administrators, District staff, parents, and outside mental health agencies to coordinate care and the delivery of effective mental health services for assigned student. - Develop and coordinate prevention and wellness activities. - Coordinate with community agencies and universities for wellness prevention and resource linkage. - Confer and consult with administrators, teachers, staff and parents. - Attend and participate in IEP, IST, 504 and related meetings and professional development trainings; plans and conducts ongoing specialized mental health trainings. Education and Experience: - Any combination equivalent to: Three (3) years of successful experience working with children in a private or governmental agency providing direct behavioral and/or mental health services is desired. Any combination of training, experience, and/or education equivalent to a Master’s degree in psychology, mental health counseling, or social work. Licenses and other Requirements: - Valid California Driver’s License. - Valid California State Board of Behavioral Science Examiner License either as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), and/or Licensed Clinical Psychologist or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor.
