Welcome to the Santa Maria-Bonita School District website. We are the largest school district in Santa Barbara County with about 17,500 pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade students. ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL/SITE PROJECT ADMINISTRATOR
Brief Description of Position
To provide the opportunity for training activities that will prepare these employees with the skill to assume the responsibility of the principalship. Further, these individuals assist the principal with the overall operation of the school, and administrate the consolidated project.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES AS ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL
Will assist the principal in the following areas:
1)Students, Parents
a)Student's assignments to classes,
b)Appraisal of student progress,
c)Establish responsive and effective rapport with students,
d)Promote effective home/school relations,
e)Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve an effective learning atmosphere in each classroom.
2)Faculty, Staff
a)Establish an effective school administrative organization with clear lines of responsibility and necessary delegation of authority.
b)Identify, provide, assign and coordinate inservice growth opportunities for teaching personnel within the school.
c)Supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel.
d)Promote effective and thoughtful teaching strategies.
3)Programs, Curriculum
a)Implement the curriculum and instructional program.
b)Promote a positive school environment.
4)Operations, Facilities
a)Plan, supervise, and direct the business operations of the school with the advice from staff.
b)Plan for the most effective use of school facilities.
c)Direct staff in the proper maintenance of the school plant.
5)District Administration
a)Utilize district resource personnel and material, in the improvement of the school program.
b)Report effective programs for district information and public media.
c)Maintain professional competence through participation in inservice education.
d)Comply with the District policies, philosophy, goals and objectives; and State Education Code.
6)Other Duties as Assigned
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES AS SITE PROJECT ADMINISTRATOR
7)Assist the School Site Council and work with the site Leadership Team:
a)in developing appropriate school plans including student needs, objectives, improvement procedures, and evaluation procedures for all students.
b)in implementing the written school plan to include monitoring program implementation, necessary record keeping, and personnel responsibilities as required.
c)in evaluating instructional program implementation as outlined in the school plan, including the annual school self-study and other required reports, to determine degree to which program objectives are attained, and in developing procedures for improvement.
8)Make arrangements and/or assist with inservice of consolidated project personnel.
9)Coordinate the identification of consolidated project participants for school(s) and central office.
10)Prepare and monitor budget and coordinate consolidated project purchases and expenditures.
11)Assist in placement of consolidated project personnel.
12)Assist in supervising project clerk(s) who assist in collecting, compiling, and maintaining consolidated project records.
13)Reviews as directed by the principal.
14)May serve as lead or reviewer as scheduled by Coordinator of Consolidated Projects as directed by the principal.
15)Coordinate program quality review preparation to include inservice, self study, and schedule for review.
16)Other duties as assigned.
Supervision: Under the immediate supervision of the Principal.
Requirements / Qualifications
Valid California Administrative Credential or Certificate of Eligibility. Minimum five (5) years teaching experience. Master's Degree
