POSITION SUMMARY Valley Charter Middle School is looking for a Dean of Students to support student life, enrichment opportunities, positive student behavior, and our advisory curriculum and program. The overall goals for this position are to ensure that students feel connected and valued by our school community and that the school has effective systems and structures in place to support effective student behavior and student growth. RESPONSIBILITIES -Establish positive, caring relationships with students and school stakeholders -Support the design and implementation of systems and structures that articulate and support high expectations for students -Support teachers to create a structured, positive classroom culture that is conducive to learning and promotes a sense of belonging for all students -Generate and effectively implement plans to enrich student life at VCMS -Support systematic use of positive behavior incentives for the student body at VCMs -Utilize restorative justice practices to support student connection to the community and ability to adhere to community expectations -Effectively facilitate peer mediations -Demonstrate high levels of professionalism including meeting deadlines, maintaining positive, timely and effective communication with supervisors, colleagues, families, and students -Collaborate effectively with grade level and department teams and special education/resource and English language development teachers -Serve as an active member of the community on committees to provide support to the school and adherence to the VCS mission and design elements -Site supervision when the principal or assistant principal is off-site. -Other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS AND DESIRED TRAITS -Experience with and desire to positively impact middle school students -Passion for educational equity and enthusiasm for the VCMS mission, model, and design elements -Experience leading projects and initiatives -Strong or
