Under the direction of the Director of Facilities, the electrician performs skilled and semi-skilled duties at the journey-level in electrical and low voltage systems installation and repair.
Requirements / Qualifications
Qualifications: 1. Education: Equivalent to the completion of 12th grade. 2. Previous Experience: Two years of experience as a journeyman electrician is required. 3. Licenses: Possession of a valid California Driver’s License and the ability to qualify for District vehicle insurance coverage. Ability to obtain all required federal, state and local licenses and/or certification, including a C-10 license. Work Calendar: Twelve months, Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (includes a half hour duty-free, unpaid lunch break). The selected candidate will begin immediately upon the successful completion of background and tuberculosis clearances. All classified new hires must pass a six-month probationary period to become a permanent employee of the District. Current employees must pass a six-month probationary period in a new position when the new position is a permanent assignment in a higher classification. Salary: Placement on classified salary range 39 is dependent on experience as an electrician with the same level of skills and responsibilities. The wage range is $5,133.76 to $6,552.13 per month, corresponding to $29.62 to $37.80 per hour. The monthly salary is disbursed in two paychecks, on the 10th and 25th of the month. Benefits: An excellent benefits package is offered to employees who work 50% or more of a full-time position, with the District contributing up to $19,990 per year per employee. The benefits year runs October 1 through September 30. If not already a member, the new employee will be enrolled in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS).
