Yuba City Unified School District CHILD NUTRITION DATA PROCESSING SPECIALIST RANGE 28.5 DEFINITION Under general supervision of the Director of Child Nutrition, facilitates the operation of the District’s Child Nutrition Computer Software System, Coordinates Free and Reduced data with district software system, diagnose and resolve software problems as required. Provide advice, instruction and assistance in the use and care of computer hardware and software to staff; do related work as required. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES Assist in installation, maintenance and training of Child Nutrition Computer System; develop and deliver training to food service staff; participate in hardware/software planning, evaluation and acquisition; install and test software updates and releases; verify the accuracy of data processing of free and reduced applications with district wide student system; maintain security procedures. Provide data reports to end users on free and reduced data and maintain confidentiality of student eligibility. EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS Education and Experience: Requires knowledge and experience with general computer operations and understanding of district food service data processing system. High School Diploma required; two years of college level curriculum recommended. Knowledge and Skills: Principals and practices used in the design, configuration, installation and maintenance of the Child Nutrition Computer Software System including site servers, points of sale at school sites and co-ordination of data with district student system. Set-up and administration of multi-user system and data processing operations, services for on line payment of meals for parents, train users on point of sale system at school sites, co-ordinate district wide notification system to parents on student account balances and have knowledge of principles and practices used for software development and updates. Must have well-developed data entry and keyboarding skills. Be able to use word processing, data base and spreadsheet programs efficiently. Requires general clerical skills and solid communication skills to interact with co-workers, cafeteria staff and parents requesting account balance and eligibility information. Abilities: Requires the ability to perform the various aspects of the position including understanding and carrying out written and oral instructions; perform routine and repetitive tasks on a continuous basis and to prioritize work assignments. Requires the ability to explain and interpret the functions and capabilities of computer and software to child nutrition staff not directly engaged in data processing activities. Physical Abilities: Position involves light to medium work including walking, standing, stooping carrying and lifting of medium to heavy weight computer equipment (up to 30 lbs.). Requires visual acuity and depth perception, hand and finger dexterity and hand, eye coordination. Requires speaking and hearing ability sufficient to hear over phone and carry on routine conversations with staff and parents. Licenses and Certificates: Valid California driver’s license.
