BASIC FUNCTION Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, plan, organize, coordinate, lead and serve in a central or intermediate school food service operation serving multiple entries; perform skilled functions in the preparation and serving, cooking and baking of a variety of soups, meats, vegetables, desserts and baked goods; plan, organize, coordinate, requisition, receive and store foodstuffs and supplies; maintain a variety of records and prepare reports. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES Plan, schedule, provide work direction, organize, coordinate and lead food service personnel in the cooking, baking and serving of breakfast, lunch and/or snack foods in a central kitchen and fast food service areaE; review, inspect and taste foods to determine quality, appearance and edibilityE; implement and maintain quality and portion control proceduresE; organize and coordinate the preparation of hot and cold food storage equipment for delivery to other food service unitsE; inspect and review the food preparation and serving areas to ensure that appropriate cleanliness and sanitation standards are maintainedE; participate in cleaning activities as neededE; train cafeteria personnelE; plan and develop work schedulesE; provide technical input into the performance evaluation of food service personnelE; estimate, requisition and order appropriate quantities of foodstuffs, supplies and materialsE; receive, inspect, organize and lead in preparation of foodstuffs, supplies and materials for storageE; establish and maintain a variety of daily operations records and prepare reports and summaries as requiredE; assist in the planning, organization and conduct of banquets and catering type food service functions, including menu planning and cost determination as required; perform related duties as assigned.
