POSITION DETAILS The Fullerton School District is seeking a qualified individual for a full-time Chef position in our Nutrition Services Department. Under general supervision, the Chef cooks and leads the preparation of healthy, daily meals and snacks for students District-wide, and researches, develops, adjusts, implements and evaluates recipes. This is an 8 hour/day, 10 month/year position with unpaid time off in the summer break with paid holidays, sick leave, vacation, and a pro-rated benefits package of health benefits, dental, vision and life insurance. The work hours generally are 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent is required. Verifiable formal coursework or training (i.e., vocational or college) in food service or a related field is preferred. Experience: Two (2) years of experience in cooking food for institutional settings (e.g., school districts, hotels, hospitals, restaurants), including one (1) year of recipe development, is required. Other Requirements: License: •Possession of a valid Class C California Driver's License and insurability to drive a District vehicle as part of the District’s Pull Notice program is required. •A valid ServSafe California Food Handler Certification is required. RECRUITMENT PROCEDURES This is a merged promotional and open competitive recruitment. The recruitment process may consist of a training and experience (supplemental responses) evaluation, written test, performance test and/or structured oral interview. To qualify to be placed on an eligibility list, a candidate must obtain a passing score on each part of the examination process. Final scores will be obtained by combining the relative weights of scores on each part of the examination. If Veteran's credit is claimed, proof of status (DD214) must be submitted to the Classified Personnel Commission Office at the same time the application form is submitted or prior to testing. The life of the eligibility list will be twelve (12) months. The resulting eligibility list will be used to fill current and future vacancies. Dates of Exams and Interviews The date(s) of exams and interviews will be announced at a later date. Candidates who are among the most qualified shall be notified via email, and/or telephone of the time, date and place of the examination(s) or interview(s).
