Job Summary
The Assistant Superintendent – Educational Services reports to the Superintendent. The Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services leads, plans, directs, manages and oversees the activities and operations of the Educational Services Department, which includes the functions of Curriculum and Special Projects and Information Technology. The Assistant Superintendent assumes responsibility for the planning, implementation, and direction of these District areas of operation. This position is the leader in strategic planning, curriculum development, research and evaluation, exceptional student education, career, community, and technical education, instructional media and technology, federal programs, and staff development. The Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services serves as the chief officer for all areas of educational services, including adult education, elementary education, and secondary education. The position has the highest level administrative and leadership responsibility for all aspects of instructional programming and services; coordinates and collaborates with other District departments and outside agencies; and provides highly responsible complex administrative support to the Superintendent. The Assistant Superintendent works closely with the fiscal department of the District. The Assistant Superintendent – Educational Services serves on the Superintendent’s Cabinet and is an active participant of the District management group.
Requirements / Qualifications
EXPERIENCE: -Site and Director Level experience preferred. -Excellent Communication and a record of effective interaction with community, staff, parents and students. EDUCATION: Master’s degree from an accredited college or university is required, with major course work in Education preferably Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership or a related field. EQUIVALENCY: A combination of education, training, and/or job experience necessary to perform the essential functions of the job. REQUIRED TESTING: Pre-employment Proficiency Test may be required. CLEARANCES: Meet employment requirements as applicable with state, federal, local laws and Board Policy.
