JOB SUMMARY Under the direction of the assigned supervisor, the teacher provides directed learning experiences in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) to students in grades 4-6 during the school year and outside of the school year. Implements the STARBASE program curriculum according to Department of Defense (DoD) program guidelines. Provides classroom instruction, organizes and manages classrooms, prepares the facility and instructional materials for classes, and guides the work of an Instructional Assistant. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS The Lead Teacher, STARBASE performs additional duties related to program coordination, marketing, evaluation, and maintenance of records and files. The Lead Teacher may serve as deputy to the program Director.
Requirements / Qualifications
Required: 1. A valid California Multiple Subject teaching credential. 2. English Learner (EL) or Cross-cultural Language, and Academic Development (CLAD) certification or willingness to apply for Emergency CLAD and obtain certification within state timelines. 3. A demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. 4. A valid California driver’s license. Desirable: 1. Three or more years of experience in elementary education. 2. Experience teaching STEM-related subjects (Introductory Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, Geometry, Robotics, Rocketry, and Mathematics).
