MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepares the room to provide suitable learning environment and promote student motivation.

Teaches knowledge and skills in art, art history, and/or threedimensional art to secondary pupils.

Provides instruction by which pupils develop aesthetic concepts and appreciations, and the ability to make qualitative judgment about art.

Demonstrates techniques in activities such as drawing, painting, and modeling, using standard and/or teacher-prepared instructional aids.

Develops instructional plans and organizes class time to provide a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and working time as determined with site administrator.

Instructs pupils in proper area and use of tools and equipment.

Organizes storage areas and controls use of materials, equipment, and tools to prevent loss or abuse, and to minimize time required for distribution and collection.

Evaluates each pupil’s performance and growth in knowledge and aesthetic understandings, and prepares progress reports.

Plans and presents, when required, art displays and exhibitions designed to exhibit pupil’s work for the school and the community. May sponsor exhibits from outside sources after it has been cleared with Department Chairperson and Principal.

Operates equipment necessary to subject being taught.

Develops weekly lesson plans and supplementary materials compatible with the basic instructional philosophy and curriculum of the District.

Provides students with the opportunity to partake in daily patriotic observance. Education Code 52720.

Monitors classroom environment to ensure clean and safe conditions exist, notifying principal of any unclean or unsafe classroom conditions.

Monitors classroom activities making students responsible for putting materials, supplies, tools, etc., safely and neatly away at the end of the class session.

- Valid California Single Subject Teaching Credential: Art AND - English Learner Authorization
