Job Summary

Under the immediate supervision of the District Superintendent, the Public Information Officer (PIO) is responsible for managing and disseminating information to the public media and internal stakeholders. This role plays a crucial part in maintaining a positive public image, ensuring clear communication, and promoting the district’s goals and achievements. The PIO gathers, prepares, and disseminates information and publicity through various communication networks, including news media, parents, employees, community members, and businesses. The PIO designs, creates, writes, and edits materials for publications, including news releases, and promotional materials. The PIO also meets with community groups, staff members, and others as the district's information representative and photographer.

QUALIFICATIONS • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Strong organizational and project management abilities. • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. • Proficiency in digital communication tools and social media platforms. • Knowledge of crisis communication strategies and techniques. • Bilingual proficiency. EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field. • At least 3 years of experience in public relations, media relations, or a similar role, preferably in a school district or educational institution. WORK ENVIRONMENT • The PIO will work primarily in an office setting but will also need to attend events and meetings at various school sites and community locations. Some evening and weekend work may be required.
