Job Summary

Job Summary

Under direction, through individual and group instruction, assists pupils, birth through 22, years to fulfill their capacities for mental, physical, emotional and social growth; uses teaching techniques appropriate to stimulate their abilities and interests; uses specialized instructional procedures as necessary to meet the individual needs of deaf and hard of hearing pupils and their families, and is knowledgeable about hearing aids, cochlear implants, assistive listening devices, and auditory accommodations.

Requirements / Qualifications

Education and Experience: -Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university - A valid California Credential or equivalent to provide instruction to deaf and hard of hearing students from birth to 22 years communicatively disabled/deaf education - Possess specialized techniques or skills pertinent to working with hard of hearing and deaf students, such as signing ability, knowledge of all areas of language development, speech and listening skill development, hearing aid function and analysis, use and maintenance of assistive listening devices, knowledge of general education curricula (preschool through high school) and normal infant development - Experience working with children with hearing disabilities

Comments and Other Information

Note: This position requires the ability to make regular and frequent trips within Monterey County visiting school sites, attending meetings, making home visits, etc. Therefore, the incumbent should possess an appropriate California operator's license and the availability of an automobile with the state minimum insurance coverage. Desirable Qualifications: - CPR Certification within six (6) months of employment - Teaching experience in regular education and/or deaf education programs - Experience working with infants and young children - Ability to speak and write the Spanish language All foreign transcripts must be evaluated by a third party to determine the equivalent U.S. degree and major, and the Foreign Transcript Evaluation must be attached to your application before your application will be considered.
