Key Responsibilities: Curriculum Development and Instruction: Develop and teach a comprehensive science curriculum that encourages scientific inquiry and experimentation. Student Engagement: Manage laboratory and classroom activities that foster a safe and dynamic learning environment. Assessment and Evaluation: Evaluate student performance through practical and theoretical assessments. Student Support and Advising: Provide extra help with scientific studies, advising on projects, and supporting science-related extracurricular activities. Faith Integration: Connect scientific knowledge with Catholic teachings, emphasizing the harmony between scientific understanding and religious belief. Professional Responsibilities: Maintain student records, participate in departmental meetings, and engage in continuous professional development. Innovation and Improvement: Incorporate new technologies and scientific discoveries into the curriculum to keep it current and engaging. Requirements: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Science or a related field. Valid teaching certificate with an endorsement in Science. Experience teaching high school science or related field. This professional position supports the Notre Dame Leadership Team in the creation of student-centered, technology-enhanced, academically-strong, innovative learning environments. The position requires instructors to be innovative designers of engaging assignments, motivating students in the pursuit of knowledge and understanding in a rich Catholic environment and encompasses a wide range of programs, projects, reports, databases, and duties relating to the school objectives for student learning and Integral Student Outcomes (ISO). This position reports indirectly to the President and directly to the Principal and, as delegated, to the Assistant Principal and Dean of Students.
Essential Job Functions Percent of Time (approx.)
Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment 50%
- Establish professional partnerships which exceed student and parent expectations;
- Align course content with established curriculum and formulate clear and achievable learning objectives for each lesson;
- Create engaging assignments that embrace Notre Dame's learning modalities and grade level learning objectives;
- Establish structured innovative learning environments which engage students in the learning process while meeting accepted classroom management practices;
- Implement prescribed instructional planning to maximize the effectiveness of block scheduling in meeting stated learning objectives;
- Fully and creatively integrate Notre Dame's iPad learning platform in the creation of innovative learning environments;
- Collaborate across grade-level curriculum to create a unique and effective learning culture;
- Identify and utilize current assessment practices to measure the degree to which learning objectives are met;
- Communicate student progress and collaborate with parents to provide interventions necessary to ensure student success.

- Bachelors Degree and single subject credential in related field ;
- Ability to create student-centered learning environments with the effective delivery of course content;

- Demonstrated ability to compose and deliver compelling and engaging presentations;

- Proficiency in using Apple products including iMac, MacBook, iPad, iPhone, Apple TV,
- Proficiency in using Apple apps, App Store, iTunesU, iTunes, iWork's, and all other applicable apps and software;

- Work hours are from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm Monday through Friday
- Evening and week-end hours will be required
- Hours will vary during peak seasons
