FR. SAUER ACADEMY COUNSELOR / WELLNESS TEACHER JOB DESCRIPTION POSITION: Counselor / Wellness Teacher (Middle School) REPORTS TO: Principal of the Fr. Sauer Academy POSTING DATE: June 2024 SALARY RANGE: $84,614 - $118,736 PROGRAM SUMMARY: The Fr. Sauer Academy at St. Ignatius is accepting applications for a full-time Counselor/Wellness Teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. The Fr. Sauer Academy seeks to prepare young people in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades from under-resourced communities to be successful at St. Ignatius College Preparatory, in higher education, and beyond. In partnership with families, the Academy will provide access to a Catholic, Jesuit education so that students may develop their gifts and talents in a loving community for the greater glory of God. POSITION PURPOSE: In keeping with the Jesuit tradition of supporting the needs of the whole person, St. Ignatius aims to foster adolescent well-being by encouraging healthy lifestyle strategies for all students. With this goal in mind, the Fr. Sauer Academy Counselor will provide counseling services to Fr. Sauer Academy students and teach 3 Advisory classes a week. As such, the Counselor will collaborate with members of the Fr. Sauer Academy and St. Ignatius community, including faculty, staff, students, and parents, to promote a healthy school environment. This position includes Academic Support for students and community outreach for all families. This position is a full time position with contract dates from August 15 – July 15. The Counselor reports to the Principal of the Fr. Sauer Academy. SUMMARY: The Counselor will work directly with students in one-on-one, group and classroom settings. The counselor will assist students and their families to promote healthy life choices, provide individual counseling, and work with classroom faculty while teaching lessons to foster emotional and social well-being.
