Title: General Music Teacher Contract year: Traditional (Late August through Mid-June) Job Type: Full-time M-F FLSA: Exempt Starting Salary Range: $54,324.00-$77,499.00 annually. The rate of pay within the specified range may be adjusted at any time by the appointing authority based on the candidates' qualifications, prior experience, education level, etc. Commensurate with education and experience Reports to: Elementary School Principal Position Summary: General music teacher will instruct elementary students TK-5th grade in the fundamental principles of music and musicianship skills, such as music theory and basic notation. Ideal lessons will involve a variety of musical responses including singing, moving and playing easily accessible instruments such as drums, recorders, and hand bells. The music teacher will direct musical performances throughout the year and work collaboratively with other music instructors to develop a strong musical foundation and understanding for elementary students. He / She will help recognize musical talent in their students to encourage them to undertake further musical studies, such as joining orchestra or band. The music teacher should be an accomplished musician with a high level of performance proficiency on at least one instrument. Responsibilities: General: • Plan and execute a balanced music program while organizing class time to maximize student growth, musical skills, and understanding of musical theory • Demonstrate effective and positive classroom management • Set high expectations of achievement that are ambitious and measurable for all students • Utilize various instructional techniques and strategies to convey highly engaging lessons for students while building a love and appreciation for music • Include a variety of musical literature and musical pieces, including traditional and contemporary that are appropriate for the age and skill levels of students • Evaluate student’s musical growth, perform
