THE POSITION: The Project Director I, Transformative Social Emotional Learning (T-SEL) shall provide technical, specialized, consultative, advisory, and planning services for LACOE staff and Local Educational Agencies (LEAs) in the fields of wellbeing and transformative social emotional learning. This position will specifically support the planning, development, and implementation of SEL, Mindfulness, and Wellness Programming in Schools in accordance with CalHOPE Student Support and the Student Behavioral Health Incentive Program (SBHIP). The Project Director I provides professional development, implementation coaching, on-site technical assistance, and facilitates countywide SEL communities of practice; consults and collaborates with internal LACOE teams to provide guidance and best practices for SEL integrated into Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), Positive Behavioral Intervention Supports (PBIS), restorative justice, systems of equity, access, and diversity, pupil engagement and attendance, positive school climate, trauma and healing informed practices, response to youth suicide and selfharm, system-wide crisis intervention and general education mental health integration. The role aims to assist LACOE schools and countywide LEAs in optimizing their resources and fostering partnerships with families, communities, and other school partners to establish a holistic framework of innovative programs that promote SEL, Equity, and student/staff wellbeing.
Requirements / Qualifications
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Experience: Five or more years of comprehensive, directly related, and progressive educational leadership experience, including three years of professional development experience in SEL, mental health or a closely related field. Education: • Master’s degree in Education or mental health related field. LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE (All applicants must attach credential with document number to their application. See below for step-by-step instructions.): • Possess and maintain a valid Supervisory or Administrative Services Credential. • Desired: PPS in School Counseling, School Social Work. • Desired: MFT/Social work license.
