The Special Education Central Office Resource Teacher (CORT) position is a full time 11 months vacancy. The Central Office Resource Teacher must be a strategic and innovative leader focused on promoting the integration of academics and student services, specifically as it relates to addressing the academic, behavioral and social-emotional needs of students with IEPs. The Central Office Resource Teacher must be able to work effectively with both general and special education staff and possess strong skills in the areas of collaboration and problem solving that leads to positive impacts on student academics and levels of engagement. The Central Office Resource Teacher must have knowledge in Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) including best practices in Universal/Tier 1 supports, including Universal Design for Learning (UDL), differentiation, and culturally responsive practices for students with IEPs, including understanding of inclusionary practices within classrooms and schools. Also have a depth of knowledge in Tier 2 and Tier 3 evidence-based practices and supports for students requiring additional or intensified support. The Area CORT, under the leadership of the Area Program Manager, will respond to requests from various school sites throughout the district in regards to compliance, instruction and supporting families. Travel between school sites and flexibility in work hours is required.
Requirements / Qualifications
Duties will include but not limited to the following: Working with school site teams to support with IEPs Coaching/supporting Education Specialist Traveling to various schools with their assigned area Working in an integrated team Parent communication Writing and holding IEP meetings Monitoring data Collaborating with behavior resources support personnel Supporting Extended School Year (ESY)
At least 5 years of experience supporting students with disabilities, their families and working alongside general education staff in either the general education environment or in the M/S environment. Requirements / Qualifications -A valid California teaching credential (Mild/Moderate, Moderate/Severe and General Education) -Experience coaching or a leadership role preferred. -Minimum 5 years experience teaching in a classroom setting is desired as well as a strong working knowledge of special education that supports students, staff and families. -Credentials must be registered with the California Commission of Teacher Credentialing by the closing date. -Applicants must have a valid California driver's license and be prepared to conduct, participate in, and travel to sites, professional development sessions, workshops, and meetings.
