THE POSITION The Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) is seeking a visionary Project Director III (PDIII) to lead a groundbreaking unit focused on Wellbeing and Belonging for students and staff within Los Angeles County. The PDIII of Wellbeing and Belonging, will have two important areas of focus. The position will serve as a champion for LGBTQIA+ students, leading the development of a comprehensive SOGIE (Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression) inclusion strategy. This multi-faceted approach will encompass professional development programs for educators, fostering safe spaces for students, and partnering with school districts to create inclusive environments. The PDIII will leverage existing resources and build new ones to empower local education agencies (LEAs) in creating LGBTQIA+-affirming schools. The PDIII will use data in collaboration with the research team to track progress and measure the impact of these initiatives. The PDIII will also spearhead initiatives that foster a welcoming and inclusive workplace culture for all LACOE staff. In collaboration with the EASE division the PDIII will create and execute Wellbeing programs, ensuring all LACOE employees feel valued and supported.

Requirements / Qualifications

EXPERIENCE: • Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership experience managing LGBTQ+ inclusion or social justice focused education initiatives at the district, county or governmental level or other related experience. EDUCATION: • Master's degree in education or a related field from an institution of higher learning accredited by one of the six regional accreditation associations as recognized by the Council on Postsecondary Accreditation. LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE: • Possess and maintain a valid California Administrative or Supervisory Credential.
