The Instructional Assistant - Multilingual Learners (IA-MLL) assists students and teachers with facilitating student learning by encouraging student participation and collaboration in daily classroom activities. The IA-MLL also conducts study/small student groups and provides additional support to students and teachers related to English language acquisition skills. The IA-MLL helps to create an engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable as members of the learning community and provides ongoing learning resources to support all students. Examination Process; Completed applications are reviewed and candidates who meet the minimum qualifications participate in the following examinations: The competitive basis for this recruitment is established as open-promotional/dual certification. Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications participate in the following examinations: Multiple Choice /writing test (math and English) (waived for candidates who have 48 college units), weight: 50% and Qualifications Appraisal Interview 50% (may be waived for candidates who have instructional assistant experience with mulitilingual learners). Candidates who pass the exams are placed on an eligibility list in order of overall exam score. Candidate names will be merged onto an existing list based on overall exam score each time the exam is administered. The eligibility list is used to fill vacancies withing a six month period. If a candidate has taken the multiple choice and/or performance test for this San Dieguito Union High School District job title or similar job title within the past two years, candidate may be able to transfer the scores to this recruitment. The exam must be sufficiently similar, as determined by the Director, Classified Personnel. Prior to the application deadline, a request to transfer score(s) should be e-mailed to: barbara.bass@sduhsd.net. Transferring of exam scores does not apply to the Qualifications Appraisal Interview. Veterans may be eligible for preference points on entrance examinations ("entrance" is defined as candidates who are not current employees of the District).
