DESCRIPTION OF PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under general direction of the Superintendent, is responsible to administer, coordinate and provide leadership to all programs, services and operations of a middle school.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
Assesses curriculum needs; plans instructional strategies; implements and monitors instructional programs.
Programs classes within established guidelines to meet student needs.
Implements and monitors special programs.
Relates to students with mutual respect while carrying out a positive and effective discipline policy.
Supervises and manages site operation to assure safety and efficiency.
Screens and recommends selection of and directs and evaluates performances of certificated and classified staff members.
Motivates employee performances and enhances morale.
Maintains a commitment to ongoing growth in self and others, supporting and participating in District and site professional growth programs.
Demonstrates positive attitude toward job and remains a flexible and innovative team builder.
Possesses the knowledge to implement an employee evaluation system which may include clinical supervision.
Communicates effectively with the business and residential community and participates in civic activities.
Administers a balanced budget and operates a school under a participative management system.
Actively promotes fund-raising and grant applications for the site and for the District.
Has knowledge of and implements local policies, state and federal laws relating to minors, staff and school operation.
Manages certificated and classified contracts at site level.
Serves on committees and performs other duties as directed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Valid California Administrative Credential.
Master’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
Successful teaching and administrative experience in middle school.
Experience in the area of middle school curriculum
Demonstrated skill in participative management, shared decision-making and school and program planning.

Requirements / Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS: • Minimum three (3) years successful administrative experience required • Minimum three (3) years successful teaching experience • Eligibility for or hold a valid CA Administrative Services and prerequisite teaching credential(s) • Master’s Degree in related field (required)/Doctorate (desirable) • Possession of a valid California driver’s license, personal vehicle, and evidence of insurability • Experience with implementation of California State Standards, Special Education (Moderate/Severe), and English Learners preferred • Bilingual desirable Must submit copies of credentials, transcripts, (3) current professional letters of recommendation; copies of transcripts, resume, letter of interest, LEUSD Certificated Management Application. Master's degree in related field required; Doctorate desirable.
