Job Type: Full-Time Exemption Status: Exempt Supervisor: SPED Services Manager Summary of Position: The Academy of Alameda is seeking a highly qualified special education teacher committed to serving a diverse student body. This is a TK-8, Special Education position. Qualified teachers should have experience with providing intensive reading support to students, as well as familiarity with IEP goals and data collection. Our special education teachers work as part of a dynamic team that includes close collaboration with general education teachers and support staff to deliver targeted instruction, accommodations and support services. There is a strong focus on collaborative teaching and case management (including partnering with parents/guardians). Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Provide Specialized Academic Instruction for approximately 22 elementary school students in one-on-one or small group sessions through a distance learning program, focused primarily on intensive reading intervention. • Experience with research-based reading programs/resources highly preferred. • Document student attendance and briefly summarize weekly scope of the work with each student. • Attend staff meetings, weekly meetings with the SPED Services Manager and weekly COST meetings. • Communicate with parents and guardians regarding student progress, attendance, and/or any parent/guardian concerns. • Build strong relationships with families, students, and staff. Job Qualifications ??Credential Requirements • California Teaching Credential: Education Specialist- Mild/Moderate (preferred), or • Any valid CA Teaching Credential, or • Valid CA Substitute Permit • *Bachelor’s Degree & Passing score of California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST)
