The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting with student learning, supervision and teacher support. Minimum Qualifications: -High School Diploma or equivalent, with at least 2 years of experience in an educational/camp setting or -An Associate Degree with at least 1 year of experience in an educational setting preferred -A Bachelor's degree in a field related to education Requirements: -Must share the St. Cyril community’s vision and mission to love God, love self, love others and love learning -Uphold the importance of personal values, moral standards, and integrity by being a role model in the school community -Commitment to professional conduct, team-building, on-going professional growth -Experience working with young children in a classroom setting. -Ability to communicate with young children at their level. -Patient, compassionate attitude, with a friendly, energetic disposition. -Good mediation and nurturing abilities.

Classroom Duties include: --Supporting classroom routines --Supporting the teacher at all times --Implementing the discipline plan according to the teacher and grade level --Creating an effective learning environment --Working with groups of students during center activities --Providing one-on-one help to students as directed --Reporting any concerns and observations about students to the teacher --Referring parents and their questions to the teacher - Conducting play yard supervision Supervisory Duties include: --Monitoring students at recess, lunch and after school, or as requested by the teacher – Has a strong, confident presence, authoritative voice, and clear communication skills –Ensure that all students are safe physically and emotionally Organizational Duties include: --Photocopying, prepping and collating materials --While grading should be the teacher’s job, he/she may need some assistance grading some papers --Setting up work centers --Assist with the decorating of the room, including decorating bulletin boards Physical Demands Include: Active supervision, ensuring student safety and enforcing rules and procedures to prevent accidents or injuries. When performing activities throughout the day, the aide spends the majority of the day standing in the classroom or walking around campus. Dealing with the students can entail kneeling or squatting, lifting, stooping, and bending. The aide must see and hear on a continuous basis as well as speak frequently. On a rare occasion it may be necessary to move quickly, run, etc. over smooth to uneven surfaces such as on asphalt, gravel, on the playground, or on the grass. The work environment will vary from potentially very loud situations such as cafeterias and playgrounds to more moderate situations such as classrooms or large group professional settings. Adaptability to all weather conditions related to outdoor activities and/or travel is necessary. The employee must be able to work in air- conditioned and heated environments under fluorescent lighting.
