Requirements / Qualifications
SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS: Meet schedules and timelines. Work independently with little direction. Demonstrate effective organizational skills. Effectively utilize written and oral communication. Collaborate with music educators and professionals to provide clinics and/or band camps. PHYSICAL ABILITIES: Mobility sufficient to move about, stand, and or sit for extended periods, and access all locations in the work environment. Manual skill to appropriately control and manipulate objects, tools, materials, and equipment used on the job. Flexibility and strength to reach with hands and arms, bend and stoop. Physical strength and agility to push, pull, twist, turn, squat, lift, and carry bulky objects of up to 30 pounds with or without assistance. Ability to drive all district vehicles. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Single Subject Music Credential. CLAD/English Learner Authorization. Experience teaching music at the high school level is preferred. Knowledge and ability to implement subject matter, philosophical, social, and educational concepts relative to the duties and responsibilities of this job description. Must have outstanding communication and organizational skills along with the ability to foster a positive relationship with the community.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
Responsible for overseeing all aspects of band activities at the comprehensive high school level. Provides instruction and coordinates all school marching band, jazz band, concert band, drumline and pageantry/winter guard activities. Arrange for facilities for practices. Arrange necessary transportation to and from festivals, appearances, and competitions. Promote and assist with summer band camp. Responsible for all band students’ conduct when representing Glendora Unified School District, i.e., practices, performances, hotels, transportation. Must attend ALL practices, performances, festivals, competitions. Ensure all assistants have been cleared by HR prior to contact with students.
