Summary of Duties: Under general direction, perform specific accounting functions of a complex nature in support of the day-to-day accounting for specialized programs and/or district fiscal services. Receive supervision from the Manager, Fiscal Services within a broad framework of standard policies and procedures. Requires aknowledge of specialized record keeping systems and computer accounting systems. Responsible foraccurate and timely work production. Requires technical knowledge of all areas of bookkeeping, schoolaccounting operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintains financial records and processes documents involved in financial reporting transactions ofgeneral and special funds; assigns codes, prepares, copies; batches or sorts as necessary. Collects, receives and verifies information; posts, adjusts and/or transfers appropriate data to properaccounts records, ledgers, etc. Maintains ledger accounts; balances, checks and corrects irregularities. Assists in maintaining, reviewing and monitoring district budgets and accounts in preparing annual budget. Balances assigned accounts to controls and reconciles a variety of accounts, ledgers, (banks statements) maintains Accounts Receivable. Maintains journals, ledgers and worksheets to provide full documentation of related fiscal record keeping systems for major departments, units or district; prepares budget transfers for EDP and Board reports. Assists in making financial and statistical reports of records and accounts maintained. Maintains & reconciles District Revolving Account.Prepares journal vouchers and ledger entries to provide full documentation for all record keepingfunctions related to assigned program area (s), and/or school accounts; applies appropriate rules andregulations to resolve problems.Perform professional accounting work in accordance with the Standardized Account Coding Structure(SACS), Generally Accepted Accounting Principals (GAAP), and Governmental Accounting StandardsBoard (GASB)

Prepare standard accounting reports and statements and also non-standard reports and statements,such as detailed cost and financial analysis, forecasts, and projections; prepare or assist in preparation of special accounting studies. Prepares financial and statistical reports, related to assigned department or specialized function; collectscomplies, calculates and distributes in final form.Computes, verifies, balances and adjusts accounts, records, and data requiring independent judgment based on established procedures and policies. Operates a computer terminal to generate lists, update records, monitor expenditures and respond torequests. Receives and prepares various apportionment journals for transfer and abatements for accurateposting. Receives money, maintains records of receipts, and prepares cash receipts for deposit in County Treasury.Audits student body fund; compiles and distributes financial reports. Verifies and corrects monthly medical, dental, and vision billings prior to payment invoices, medical reimbursement schedule for retirees. Performs other related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities requiredto satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities. Knowledge of: Knowledge of proper accounting, bookkeeping and record keeping methods and procedures; proper officemethods and procedures; data processing as related to financial record keeping and accounting functions;state and county accounting regulations and procedures as applied to public school districts; requirementsfor input to computer accounting systems and utilization of computer prepared reports; report preparationformat; statistical record keeping procedures; knowledge of MS Excel/Microsoft Word software isrequired; proper English usage, grammar, spelling and punctuation.

Ability to: Ability to perform accounting functions without immediate supervision; establish and maintain accurateaccounts and other fiscal records; perform arithmetical calculations accurately and rapidly; typeaccurately at 35-45 words per minute; establish and maintain financial records and prepare accuratefinancial and statistical summaries and reports; operate computer database terminal and personalcomputer; assemble; organize and analyze data in an effective and useful manner; reconcile differenceswithin the records keeping system using mathematical skills and an understanding of the record keeping system and related transactions; operate 10-key calculator; deal with public; handle stress levels; goodtelephone manners; operate a variety of office machines; identify and correct errors; establish andmaintain cooperative and effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of requiredduties.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Any combination of experience and training which wouldindicate possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities listed herein. High School Diploma or G.E.D. Equivalency. Degree and/or Certification in Accounting/Business Administration preferred.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES: A valid Class 3 California driver’s license and evidence of appropriate automobile insurance based uponDMV regulations may be required, in addition to valid First Aid and CPR certificate.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Lights physical effort with occasional standing or walking; periodic handling of light weight parcels orsupplies, indoor work environment. A pre-placement physical examination may be required.
