Job Summary
The Instructional Assistant - Special Education (Behavior Intervention) assists a certificated teacher by reinforcing instruction to individual or small groups of students with significant aggressive and/or other behavioral difficulties in a classroom setting or program using intensive behavioral management techniques, intervention strategies, coping skills and problem solving techniques. This classification also implements plans for instruction, monitors student behavior, documents activities and progress and performs a variety of related instructional support duties as assigned.

Six months of job-related experience working with students with special needs in a school or related environment is required.

Examination Process: Completed applications are reviewed and candidates who meet the minimum qualifications take an online multiple choice exam (math, English, writing), weight: 100%.
The competitive basis for this recruitment is Open/Promotional-Dual Certification. Candidates who pass all exams are placed on an eligibility list in order of overall exam score. If a candidate has taken the multiple choicetest for this San Dieguito Union High School District job title or similar job title within the past two years, candidate may be able to transfer the score to this recruitment.
