Job Summary
The Executive Director of Student Support Services, establishes a welcoming and inclusive culture and leads in the implementation of services to special education students in accordance with Federal, State laws and District policy. This position requires development and long-range planning of programs within the WCSD. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides leadership in developing, implementing, evaluating student programs/special education programs, including culture, procedures and services. Identifies future trends that will affect the District’s program and services and plans for them accordingly. Creates a highly functioning and visible team among District special education staff, including program specialist, wellness team, health team, assistant and other staff. Communicates in a proactive and timely manner with families, site personnel and District administrators. Oversees implementation and use of standards-based curriculum and instructional materials for all students. Collaborates with site personnel and families regarding development and implementation of district programs and special education programs. Provides leadership in the District’s efforts to implement early intervention for students in need of assistance, and implements early intervention strategies. Works cooperatively with school sites and all District departments. Provides leadership for positive conflict resolution, including alternative dispute resolution methods and formal due process procedures. Builds capacity through development and implementation of professional development for staff and families. Supervises and evaluates certificated and classified assigned staff. Holds District and site staff accountable for carrying out job responsibilities in accordance with District policy and standards.
