About the Employer

The Merced County Office of Education assists Merced County’s 20 school districts through support and oversight of curriculum and instruction, alternative education, business services, early education, technology, migrant education, special education, and teacher credentialing. MCOE is led by the elected Merced County Superintendent of Schools and governed by the Merced County Board of Education. While serving as a focal point to facilitate local school/government/community partnerships, MCOE is responsible for the fiscal oversight of each school district in Merced County, hears appeals for student expulsion hearings and interdistrict transfers and operates Green Meadows Outdoor School.

Under the direction of the assigned administrator, the Director of Early Learning Programs and Support is a management position with responsibility for planning, program evaluation, compliance, and advocacy for current and future MCOE needs in Early Education. This position ensures coordination in communications, resources, fiscal functions, administrative services and personnel to assure smooth and efficient activities leading to quality support programs, student learning, program growth, and community collaboration. Positions at this level are required to inspire professional growth of staff, develop and maintain program procedures, department systems, efficient work standards, and supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in early education, public health, business or closely related field and seven (7) years of progressive experience working in job related early learning and education support programs including three (3) years supervising and managing multiple program staff.
